Community Reforesatation challenges

Community Reforestation Planting Programs

Program Overview:
In 2024, through our Community Reforestation Program, we planted 5,300 native trees and replaced 5,000 burnt trees after two fire outbreaks. As part of this effort, we are prioritizing fire protection strategies to safeguard these trees and the surrounding forests.

Fire Protection and Education:
To prevent future damage, we are implementing fire protection measures and working closely with the community to educate farmers on wildfire risks and fire management techniques. This includes creating firebreaks, managing underbrush, and teaching practices to reduce the chances of wildfires spreading. By educating the community, we aim to minimize fire risks and protect the trees we've planted.

Types of Trees Planted:

Hog Plum (40%)
Nepalese Elder (25%)
Wild Walnuts (25%)
Wild Chestnut (10%)
Projected Impact:

Timeline: The trees will secure the forest and protect the community’s future.
Economic Benefits: These trees will generate income from selling hog plums, walnuts, chestnuts, and berries.
Food Security: Locally grown produce will improve food security.
Environmental Impact: The program boosts reforestation, soil health, erosion control, and biodiversity.
Future Vision:
This initiative will create a resilient ecosystem, providing resources, income, and acting as a protective barrier for the community. By fostering stewardship and sustainability, we are preparing the area to better withstand future environmental challenges, including wildfires.
