Summary
The Kilimanjaro Project has identified the Kahe Ward in the Kilimanjaro Region as a critical ecosystem in need of restoration. This ward is home to three gazetted forests - Kahe 1, Kahe 2 and Rau Forest. Kahe 1 & 2 have been decimated. The cause of degradation is intense land use pressure from agriculture (sugar, rice and maize), growing populations depending on the water sources, and ....
