Restoration and enrichment of 7.5 ha of wetland shore forest in El Silencio

Supported by Frontera Energy as a biodiversity-loss compensation project, we started restoring and enriching 7.5 ha of protective wetland border forest. After 10 years of removing the stressing factors, most of the area in El Silencio has been subject to natural succession. With these compensation project we aim to help natural succession by intervening in areas where natural succession has been “stuck” and enriching other areas where it has been successful with key plant species: primary forest species and plants that provide food for key animal species, such as the Blue-billed curassow and the Brown-spider monkey.
