Monitoring Restoration Sites

While on-site during the site visit in June 2023, the Forest Restoration team set up multiple fixed-point photography stations at newly planted sites, in order to monitor the progress visually over the next few months and years. Newly planted sites were also mapped, by walking the periphery of each site. This allows improved accuracy and reliability of our satellite-based monitoring, as well as helping keep track of different years of planting. The team will also be visiting all of the sites planted in these projects in September, when we conduct our annual Monitoring and Evaluation fieldwork. This is a critical part of our work, as we assess the data captured to address problems and challenges early on, while also providing insight into species specific growth and survival rates.
