Insect talks with Cape Nature, Grootbos Foundation and local students at Reforest Retreat 2020

Insects provide crucial ecosystem services like pollination, decomposition and various products that society can use. As part of the Greenpop Team, our resident Entomologist and Forest Restoration Project manager facilitated an informative session on how entomologists go about their work, how important insects are to the health of ecosystems, and how individuals can become more aware of these tiny superheroes.

Cape Nature and the Grootbos Foundation continuously work with local school groups in the Walker Bay Conservancy to inmprove environmental education and skills development related to conservation and restoration. This group of enthusiastic students joined us in planting some trees at our restoration site and gained insight into how, and why, we do the work we do.

Through environmental education work like this, we can increase the knowledge shared with local communities and the understanding of the critical services that even the smallest invertebrates can provide to restore and monitor our ecosystems worldwide.
