A well-established mature invader plant stand, consisting of densely populated Acacia melanoxylon trees with some scattered mature indigenous trees (approximately 15 - 20) which include: Podocarpus latifolius, Searsia chirindensis, Zanthoxylum capense and Rapanea melanophloeos and Celtis africana. The stand is 0.19 hectares with a steep gradient as it slopes down into Auckland State Forest. The soil is intact and has a good composition as it's been protected and supplemented by the mulch layer formed by the leaf litter of this invader stand. Acacia melanoxylon is a legume, so the soil will be extremely high in nitrogen. This plot is being managed by slowly thinning out the young existing invasive species and ring-barking the larger ones while providing an opportunity for reforestation through active planting beneath the remaining mature species.

In January and February 2020, invasive species were thinned and 656 indigenous trees of 14 different species were planted at a spacing of 2-3 meters apart.

Year planted = 2020
Total trees planted = 656 trees
Hectares restored = 0.28 Hectares
