A five day training on Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP) and Village Land Use Plans (VLUP) were organized in Xayaboury under collaboration between two projects- FLOURISH and V4MF- and support from the local government.
The training offered a learning space for ten technical staff from Department of Forestry, Provincial and District Agriculture and Forestry Office, Provincial and District Natural Resources and Environment of Bokeo and Xayaboury, and representatives of two CSOs--CAMKID and MHP. The training was led by experienced professionals from Department of Land, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. During the training, the participants accessed to principles and procedures of PLUP and application of VLUP which are as critical conditions for forest and forest land allocation and rights. The trainees engaged in exercise of forest mapping and resource assessment. The training expected to strengthen the capacity of the local government officials' technical staff and local CSOs to be able to conduct PLUP and to prepare VLUP.
In this training, the participants also developed their action plans to move forward the process, particularly DoRE as the process lead. FLOURISH project will support and facilitate the following action plans:
