The ABALOBI Marketplace team facilitated an enlightening hands-on tour for a group of visiting Masters students from the London Business School.
The group consisted of 18 Students, all studying for Masters degrees across a range of business specialisations from data analysis, to economics and general business management.
After a quick welcome, ice-breaker introductions and Visual Presentation on ABALOBI as a Coastal Community Impact Organisation, the group was led into the warehouse where we simulated a 'harbour scene' with members of the group being encouraged to 'roll up their sleeves'!
We explained the concept of ABALOBI Community Containers in coastal villages, providing the fisher perspective on the ABALOBI Marketplace; Selected guests then had the opportunity to handle fresh fish as if it were 'straight off the boat' - simulating QC workers - checking temperature, size and weight.
We demonstrated the Fisher app and data logging followed by a demo of the Marketplace app as if we were a Chef ordering fresh fish. The group then moved to the batching container where select guests simulated the Marketplace team - weighing and packing a Chef's order and placing on ice for delivery
To complete the Hook2Cook circle we simulated a dining experience in a restaurant with wooden fish and QR code for the diner to scan a live fisher's H2C profile. On presentation of ABALOBI's triple bottom line IMPACT slide the students got really involved, throwing up some very insightful and interesting questions, showing a level of impressive engagement and understanding!
Overall, a highly successful activation for the ABALOBI Marketplace team!
"We know your time is valuable, and we appreciate your efforts to develop and deliver this session in support of our Cape Town Global Experience. My key takeaway is how you were able to make an impact far beyond the mechanics of fishing and even able to impact the gender equality in the industry."
