As you know, ABALOBI was named a finalist in the Food category of the prestigious 2025 Zayed Sustainability Prize! Our CEO, Serge, attended the award ceremony on the 14th of January 2025. This recognition is a testament to the incredible work of small-scale fishers and their vital role in building sustainable, community-driven seafood systems.

The Zayed Sustainability Prize is a globally renowned award that celebrates innovative and impactful solutions to some of the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges. This year, it received nearly 6,000 entries from 156 countries - so being recognised at this level is no small feat!

Our mission at ABALOBI has always been about empowering small-scale fishers with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. Through our Fisher app and marketplace platform, fishers can log their catches, sell directly to consumers, and earn fair prices, all while championing transparency and sustainability. This recognition from the Zayed Sustainability Prize highlights the importance of these efforts, not just for fishing communities but for the future of our oceans.

The awards ceremony took place during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and brought together global leaders, changemakers, and organisations working towards a better future. To stand among them is an honour we’re incredibly proud of.
