ABALOBI is grateful for the opportunity to participate in SAIStival Week, hosted by GIZ, and the Africa Tech Summit Nairobi 2025. These events provide a valuable platform to engage with innovators, investors, and policymakers on the role of technology in supporting sustainable small-scale fisheries.
SAIStival, organised by GIZ’s Scaling Digital Agriculture Innovations through Startups (SAIS) Initiative, brings together leaders in agritech and blue economy solutions. As part of this initiative, ABALOBI was invited to share its experiences in developing community-driven, data-powered technology that supports small-scale fishing communities by enhancing traceability, promoting fair market access, and encouraging sustainable fishing practices.
ABALOBI’s suite of digital tools - co-designed with fishers - enables them to log their catches, manage finances, and connect with markets, strengthening their ability to operate in a changing economic and environmental landscape. At SAIStival, ABALOBI joined conversations with global partners to explore how technology can support economic resilience and conservation efforts in fisheries.
Following SAIStival, ABALOBI is honoured to take part in discussions at Africa Tech Summit Nairobi 2025, one of the continent’s leading events for technology, innovation, and investment. With a diverse audience of entrepreneurs, tech leaders, and impact investors, the summit presents an opportunity to exchange ideas on how digital solutions can strengthen small-scale fisheries and improve supply chain transparency.
ABALOBI is sharing its perspective on how small-scale fishers can play a greater role in the blue economy through inclusive digital finance, sustainable practices, and better market access. By integrating technology with traditional knowledge and local leadership, ABALOBI hopes to contribute to ongoing discussions on how innovation can empower fishing communities.
ABALOBI’s participation in these events is about learning from others, sharing insights, and building meaningful connections. Engaging with policymakers, investors, and fellow innovators allows us to explore potential collaborations that can help strengthen our work and expand support for small-scale fishers.
We are thankful for the chance to be part of these important conversations and look forward to continued engagement with partners dedicated to fisher-led innovation and ocean sustainability.
