Ibirá Program is inserted in our carbon project: Ana Primavesi Program.
The consultation will be conducted in two stages, and this text pertains to the first stage, which took place in Ribeirão Preto, SP, on January 10, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Ubá Brasil Headquarters, 2135 Prudente de Morais Street, Vila Seixas, zipcode: 14020-055. We had the participation of 13 individuals in person and 4 online, totaling 17 participants, in addition to the Ubá team.
We began the presentation by contextualizing the work of the Ubá Sustainability Institute and the projects we are developing. The aim was to showcase our approach, from project conception, implementation, monitoring and global support. We explained the importance of voluntary carbon market and its catalytic role in the ecological transition. Also discussed the general functioning of carbon projects validation, their value chain, and the certification cycle to generating carbon credits.
From an environmental perspective, the Program has the potential to sequester 380,437 tons of CO2 equivalent from the atmosphere and contribute to increased biodiversity across 2,000 hectares, directly impacting the fauna and flora of these biomes. Furthermore, the plantations have the potential to positively affect approximately 374 people.
We also explained the risks associated with carbon projects, such as heredity, susceptibility to fires or invasions, as well as the eligibility criteria for additionality areas. Among the attendees were landowners participating in the Ana Primavesi Program, agronomists, foresters, geographers, agroecologists, environmental managers, and farmers. The goal was not only to clarify doubts but also to engage potential future partners, including private rural landowners and holders of agrarian reform lots, discussing the mechanism behind the Carbon Program operation.
This moment was of utmost importance to identify frequently asked questions and concerns regarding the project, in order to improve what is already being done.
The second stage will take place on January 23, 2024, in Promissão, SP, in Reunidas land settlement and will also have its separate report.
