My Forest Armenia's Afforestation Areas: Jrashen 2

Jrashen-II has an area of 110 hectares. It has the big advantage of having mostly northern exposure. There are already some small ravines with natural birch and aspen woods. This is a good sign that with some help, the forest can come back. We started reforesting this area in the fall of 2022 - a total of 392,710 trees were planted in just one season. That was a huge accomplishment for our team of more than 190 tree-planting workers.

The mulching operation in May 2023 was a big challenge as our people had to carry the hay on steep terrain. The monitoring of 2023 showed 81% survival rate, which dropped to 70% after the second summer. In 2024, we recorded that the seedlings were doing mostly well, except for part of the pines planted in the higher altitudes. We also noticed that while the seedlings planted in the gorges were thriving, the ones on the hills were growing much slower: this is because strong winds are impacting the growth. The most important is that the seedlings are growing, albeit slowly in some areas.
