Kuzikus Biological Field Station (KBFS) supports field research, training and education on Kuzikus Wildlife Reserve. It provides infrastructure, long-term data, training, and guidance to conduct field research and education programmes. KBFS is run by ecologists and owners of Kuzikus Wildife Reserve, Dr. Friedrich Reinhard and Berend Reinhard.
Kuzikus Mapping Project
KBFS hosts the Kuzikus Mapping Project (KMP), a long-term drone mapping initiative that creates detailed aerial maps of KWR and its surroundings using AI-enhanced feature annotation, and ground-truth data from the field. The main purpose of KMP is to support the natural biodiversity of Kuzikus Wildlife Reserve by building a precise digital twin of KWR that can be used as a digital information and innovation resource.
Widldrone.eu
Kuzikus Research Station is hosting also the Wilddrone.eu project as associate partner in Namibia. WildDrone aims to revolutionize wildlife conservation practices by using autonomous drone technology as a unifying platform to monitor wildlife populations, track their movements, and manage human-wildlife conflicts.
