ABALOBI has developed a set of monitoring and evaluation tools to measure the impact of engaging with our technological tools over time. The baseline survey serves as the starting point, enabling enumerators to capture vital impact data and metrics at the beginning of a project. After multiple training sessions, adapting the survey to the local context, translating it into KiSwahili, and administering it to 35 fishers, the responses have been analyzed and visualized.
The survey, while kept as concise as possible, covers a broad range of key indicators including economics and finances, health and wellbeing, gender dynamics, basic demographics, governance, and fishing practices. Hosted in KoBo Toolbox, the survey utilizes multiple and single-select questions, is translatable into any language, and can be configured to suit any small-scale fishery context.
Furthermore, it is designed for rapid deployment, taking under 30 minutes to complete using either a webform or the KoBo Collect mobile app. Surveying can be conducted telephonically or in person.
