The ReflorestarPT Association has launched a fundraising campaign called Landscape Building Cycle - Training to Regenerate, which aims to address the needs of the local population in Serra Amarela (Entre Ambos-os-Rios, Ermida and Germil / Ponte da Barca) to regenerate the territory after last year's major fire in the National Park where these rural communities are inserted.

The funds raised will allow the start of a first phase of 6 Community Meetings that will serve as spaces for training and collaborative work between the population, technicians and institutions.

This cycle will address fundamental themes that respond to the needs identified at the Citizens' Assembly held in Entre Ambos-os-Rios in March of this year:

•⁠ ⁠Post-fire regeneration and use of native species;

•⁠ ⁠Water management and retention in the landscape;

•⁠ ⁠Creation and maintenance of a community forest nursery;

•⁠ ⁠Economic and social valuation of native forests;

•⁠ ⁠Planning for the regeneration and protection of the landscape surrounding the villages;

•⁠ ⁠Self-organization and collective decision-making.

The goal is to create a post-fire regeneration pilot project together with the community so that it can be continued and replicated, addressing all these fundamental themes.

The success of this work depends on the involvement of people who recognize the importance of investing in the empowerment of communities, confident that they have the tools and know how to manage the territory.

More than an emergency intervention, we truly want to contribute to invest in long-term regeneration.
