Project
Menabe Antimena

Located in Madagascar’s western region with low-lying western eco-floristic areas, the Key Biodiversity Area of Menabe Antimena is known to be the only place where the Endangered Madame Berthe’s Mouse Lemur can be found. Fanamby is working in close collaboration with local communities around the site to link and restore existing forest blocks and build responsible infrastructure and tourism opportunities. Through the establishment of inter-community cooperation and decision-making organizations and a local ecological monitoring committee, Fanamby is working alongside local people as they lead efforts to reconnect the fragmented forest, planting 40,000 trees per year.

Key Species: Madame Berthe's Mouse Lemur (Microcebus berthae, CR), Flat-tailed Tortoise (Pyxis planicauda, CR)
