SeaTrees Mangrove Restoration at Mida Creek in Watamu, Kenya
With the support of
SeaTrees
SeaTrees creates connections between people and brands that are ready to meet this challenge, and the social entrepreneurs and scientists who know how to regenerate ecosystems but struggle for funding and recognition. The mission of SeaTrees is to provide financial support to "regenerative" projects that protect and restore critical ocean ecosystems such as kelp forests, mangrove forests, coral reefs, seagrass, and ridge to reef watershed conservation.
In collaboration with
COBEC
SeaTrees has partnered with Community Based Environmental Conservation (“COBEC”) to protect 100+ hectares of degraded mangrove forest within the Malindi Watamu National Marine Park and Reserve. COBEC is a community-based organization officially registered with the Kenyan Ministry of social services since 2005. With a focus on local "grass-roots" ocean conservation efforts, COBEC has developed their programs with the support of the local communities and government stakeholders.
