Project
MonViso Institute - High Po River Valley bioregional weaving lab

MVI is an open innovation ecosystem - a real-world laboratory for research, education, entrepreneurship and new living - on sustainability transitions and regenerative design for a more resilient and just society. One of our facets is that of a bio-regional weaving and learning center, nudging and curating social-ecological, biodiverse, culturally enriched, cross-scale regeneration processes that scale deep into place specifics, and scale out to learn for other place-specific sites and contexts.
MVI is an active, experimental practice hub and partner of the DRRS program (Designing Resilient Regenerative Systems), a global educational program offered by ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) Zurich and its Systemic Design Labs group.
At MVI we work across scales of space and decision making - from green chemistry (such as embodied CO2eq, or nutrients) to raw materials supplies, to circular product design, to the built environment, to communities and cities with their services, to landscapes and land use restoration, to bioregional economics and transnational cooperation.
We re-think and re-design how we want to live now and in the future. Resilient and regenerative; blending local traditions, regional resources, place specifics, and global openness. Systemic design has the leverage to address complex challenges of global scale with place-based inclusive responses at the intersection of ecology, anthropology, and systemic innovation. We weave bridges and build synergies between people, projects, ecosystems, and economies, between theory and practice - with the common goal to create net-positive impact.
