Ratu Elok is a village located about 156 km away from the center of Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan. The total population of Ratu Elok is 2,774, or 10.88% of the total population of the sub-district, consisting of 1,271 males and 1,053 females.
The community living there are Indigenous and belong to the Dayak Jelai ethnic group, one of the subgroups of the Dayak ethnic group of Ratu Elok Village. They have their own distinct cultural practices, language, and traditions. People of Ratu Elok traditionally rely on agriculture, fishing, and gathering of forest products for their livelihoods (30% farmers, 10% fishermen, and 70% others), with the oil palm being the major commodity.
Currently, as many as 131 farmers have participated in the RSPO certification process. Moreover, participatory mapping of land use and identification of forest and land fire prone areas have been carried out.
