Summary
Due to the 60 islands that run along the coast, Patagonia Azul’s 300 kilometers of rugged coastline provides key breeding, feeding, and migration sites for marine birds and mammals. Unfortunately, the marine environment is most heavily affected by destructive fishing activities that destroy the seabed, deplete fish stocks, and create huge amounts of untreated organic waste products, while the islands are invaded by alien species that threaten colonies of marine birds.
