The Association of Organizations of the Cuchumatanes -ASOCUCH- within the framework of the Project "Business and Commercial Strengthening of Small Producers Organizations of the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes, Sierra de las Minas and Bocas del Polochic" funded by the European Union EU, coordinated with the Technical Training Institute "INTECAP" on October 20, 21 and 22, 2020, the Workshop on the USE AND MAINTENANCE OF DEPULERS, with a duration of 24 hours, aimed at technicians and producers of the Chojzunil and Cocolense Cooperatives of the municipality of Santa Eulalia Huehuetenango; having the participation of 12 people.
The course will be certified by INTECAP, which provides greater validity to the process, and aims to improve post-harvest handling and avoid losses since a poorly used and poorly calibrated pulper directly influences the quality of the grain and the yield to be achieved. , this strengthening allows to leave capacities installed in the MSMEs, with the respective knowledge of being able to carry out technical management of these machinery, as well as putting learning into practice and being able to develop the maintenance of this machinery
at the level of their communities and organizations.
Additionally, each MSME was given a kit of basic tools that includes a kit of keys, manual greaser, screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, spanner, wire brush, among others, which will serve to serve small producers of the different coverage MSMEs. .
It is important to mention that one of the issues with the greatest impact was the disarmament and total assembly of a pulper, knowing all the parts checking that they were in good condition, otherwise the respective change was made. In addition to this, the participants were taught to perform a correct calibration depending on the variety and size of grain and thus avoid damage that influences the yields, which is a direct problem in Guatemalan coffee growing.
