Viviano Aurelio Saucedo (56 years old), owns an agroforestry plot that was established 5 years ago with an extension of 4.58 hectares of organic coffee with the varieties caturra and villalobo. He lives with his family of 4 members in the village Palo Grande, in the municipality of Chiantla and is an associate of the Cooperativa Integral Agrícola Cocolense R.L.
On average, he harvests 34 MT of fresh coffee beans in grapes per harvest season. After the wet processing, this results in about 6.8 MT of parchment coffee. In addition to coffee, the company also cultivates fruit species: grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) banana (Musa paradisiaca) lemon (Citrus limón) normally generates economic income from the sale of the fruits. In his plot, he also planted native species of trees that serve as shade for organic coffee: Chalum (Inga edulis).
