Rubén Otoniel Cano, native of the community of Palo Grande, municipality of Chiantla, where he lives with his family of 4 members, is an associate of the Cooperativa Integral Agrícola Cocolense R.L.
He manages an agroforestry parcel that was established 5 years ago with an extension of 2.18 hectares of organic coffee with the Villalobo variety. On average, he harvests 16.25 MT of fresh coffee beans per harvest season. After the wet-processing process, this results in 3.25 MT of parchment coffee, which is commercialized with the Cooperative with the fair trade seal. Additionally, it cultivates fruit species such as: Banana (Musa paradisiaca), Plantain (Musa paradisiaca), and also planted 10 plants of different species, which serve as shade for the cultivation: Chalum (Inga edulis), Guarumbo (Cecropia peltata).
