Diego Mateo Diego (30 years old), resident of the farmhouse el Naranjo, in the municipality of Barillas, where he lives with his family of 3 members, is an associate of the Cooperativa Integral Agrícola Cocolense R.L.
He has an agroforestry parcel that was established 5 years ago with an extension of 0.83 hectares of organic coffee with the Catimor variety, on average, he harvests 4.75 TM of fresh coffee beans per harvest season. After the wet processing, this results in 0.95 MT of parchment coffee, which is sold in the fair market through the cooperative. The other components of its agroforestry system are fruit species such as Banana (Musa paradisiaca), from which it generates economic income by selling the fruits. On the plot, it planted eleven plants of different species, which serve as shade for the cultivation of coffee: Guarumbo (Cecropia peltata), Chalum (Inga edulis).
