Project
Pyrogenic Carbon Capture & Storage Namibia
Otjiwarongo • Namibia Started in January 2022 Active Agriculture, Restoration, Natural Forest Management
Summary
By using low-tech machinery and high-tech certification, environmentally harmful invasive plants are converted to biochar and sequestered in Namibian soils for soil improvement. In this way, C-sink certificates are created, which are exported as high-tech services to international offsetters. The sale of these negative emission certificates finances the construction and operation of the pyrolysis plants as well as the purchase of the biomass.
