This agroforestry was implemented in a degraded area with sparse secondary vegetation. This farmer used to practice slash and burn, and the agroforestry planting prevented the burning of the area, which was implemented with slash and mulch technique. The objective was to produce cassava, native fruits and non-timber forest products, such as andiroba (Carapa guianensis), cumaru (Dypterix odorata), rosewood (Aniba roseodora) and red cedar (Cedrela odorata).
