Ackersdijk is a SKAR residence for Rotterdam artists. The area around the old school building has been converted into a green oases. The garden creates added value for tenants, local residents, (urban) nature and the urban climate. Site construction is paid for by the municipal project Rotter- dam Weerdword because it contributes to the “sponge effect” of the city while redu- cing heat stress in paved neighbourhoods. Coöperatie Ondergrond design and manage the forest garden based on food forest principles.
