The Olifants River is a river in the southwestern area of the Western Cape Province of South Africa. The Olifants flows into the Atlantic Ocean at a town called Papendorp, approximately 250 km north of Cape Town.
Monitoring activities in this area were initiated in order to equip fishers with data, to drive local management of resources, use to engage with government in permit allocation and resource recognition as well as use to potentially lobby against oil and gas exploration.
ABALOBI aims to continually learn and understand the fishery better so that we can provide assistance where needed.
