Strategies
Establish a well-managed main nursery, together with strategically located satellite nurseries, for the propagation of Clanwilliam cedar seedlings.
Strategically plant Clanwilliam cedar saplings in the most ideal locations within the natural range of the species within the Cederberg.
Monitor the seedlings (nursery) and the saplings (in-field) to determine the success of the methods used and the survival rate of the saplings (in-field), to increase the recruitment rate of the population.
Increase the collaborative re-establish of the Clanwilliam cedar tree population.
Increase local and international awareness regarding the Clanwilliam cedar tree and its environment.
Increase Environmental Education initiatives with schools within and surrounding the Cederberg area.
Active local community involvement in the various initiatives of the NPO.
Increase collaboration with other organisations and role-players to contribute (directly and indirectly) to social and economic development within the communities of the Cederberg Region
What we do
Sustainable Ceder's main purpose is the development and implementation of a strategic and collaborative approach to the re-establishment of the Clanwilliam cedar tree. We will act as the central link between various organisations, partners, role-players, tourists, and communities within the Cederberg area.
Through this integrated conservation model, we strive to increase the effectiveness of our conservation efforts while also uplifting the communities within the area.
