Carbon storage and capture, water regulation and conservation of biodiversity are some of the services ecosystems that forests offer us. Under the project REDD + Tambopata-Bahuaja Sonene, we value the services of the
forests of RNTAMB and its buffer zone to implement the Mechanism of Retribution for Ecosystem Services (MERESE in spanish). This way, the programmatic activities of Monitoring can be financed Biological and Research of the RNTAMB and the PNBS, as well as the promotion of sustainable productive activities in the buffer zone.
In this context, studies have been developed to estimate the carbon storage rate generated by the avoided deforestation in the RNTAMB and its buffer zone, which has been translated into carbon credits. The sale of these credits generates an important economic contribution to the project, which is reinvested in activities for the conservation, recovery and sustainable use of the resources of these protected natural areas.
