What?

Sítio Macacu is our high-integrity pilot project which will de-risk and validate our 3,000 ha flagship expansion. A shovel-ready opportunity for high-integrity, durable carbon removal with biodiversity, soil conservation and water quality benefits. The reforestation project is fully designed; carbon removal can start immediately with a mix of 60-90 native tree species.

Where?

The 50 ha site is near Teresópolis in Rio de Janeiro state. The project consists of degraded pastureland located in the Serra do Mar coastal forest ecoregion, part of the Atlantic Forest - one of the world’s top 5 biodiversity hotspots. It lies in the Rio dos Frades Environmental Protection Area and within the buffer zone of the Três Picos State Park.
