Enrichment planting in a Young Regenerating Forest

Among our three projects in Colón, the Finca "La Connexión" is the one with the largest share of existing natural forest. Its name means "the connection", because it extends two other projects of Futuro Forestal and thus connects a large existing natural forest. This area is particularly important for biodiversity and has only a few areas to be reforested.

2019 we planted five hectares in "La Connexión". Some parts of the finca have a young pioneer growth of about five years. Here we will mainly use the so-called "enrichment planting", i.e. the diversification of the existing stock through new tree species. We use a mixture of shade ressistant species for enrichment. The finca belongs to our project area Colón.
