This site was purchased by our cooperative in early 2021. The former owner kept cattle on the finca. The site is in good condition due to its extensive use. The last 500 metres to the finca are on a rather wide clay road. This clay road is currently only passable in the dry season and needs to be improved accordingly before reforestation. Once the path has been improved, it would be possible to drive on it all year round.
Light demanding species are planted on the site for the most part. However, there is also vegetation where we can plant semi-shade species. We can plant some high-demand hardwoods on the site, whose natural stocks are currently coming under massive pressure. These include species such as Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa), Spanish Cedar (Cedrela odorata) and Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), which are threatened with extinction in the wild. The finca belongs to our project area Agua Fria.
