Project area 4: DAN.com's Forest
Planting action!

This area quite some inclination which is why it needs some special attention to develop the nature in this area.
We dug swales in order to catch more water in the landscape and harvested biomass to fill the swales- this will serve as a sponge to hold water longer. Then we prepared the soil for planting actions. We dug holes for the trees, added compost and other helpful additives.
Just over the swales we planted trees. This way they will receive water from the swales: the swales will hold water and slowly release it to the soil. The trees will grow their roots towards the water that is coming from the swales. This way we improve the conditions of the landscape and prepare the trees to develop.

We planted Prunus Spinosa, Myrtus, Salix, Quercus Faginea, Arbustus Unedo (medronho) that we received from Gone West as part of their 'Free trees for Portugal' project.

Furthermore we planted many cuttings and seeds of a large variety of tree species, cactusses and we planted fruit trees: loquat, lemon, mandarin, orange, pomegranate, almond, fig, apricot, nectarine, peach, olive, apple, pear, mulberry, mango, banana, avocado, quince
