Mulch is fine natural material/ biomass that protects the soil, serves as a sponge to hold water and feeds the soil while decomposing.
Mulch is a vital element in any kind of planting action here in the dry Algarve. The wind and sun have a big impact on nature during the long summer. To find solutions we collaborate with nature. We used dried grass to make a nest around the newly planted trees to protect and feed them.
This way the soil will be protected against the sun and wind, the mulch will decompose and feed the soil, and the mulch will hold water longer.

We had a nice mulching squad and covered all of the freshly planted trees!
