This Andiroba (Carapa guianensis) on Marlucia and Moises' farm is pictured here after about two years of growth. The oil from the seeds of this native Brazilian tree finds its way into beauty stores in the UK, Belgium, France and elsewhere as a natural skin and hair product because it is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. We’re planting these native trees in the Amazon to improve the income of families, so they don’t have to sell off their land. When trees can produce valuable products – like this oil – we have a good chance of keeping them standing.
