Livestock production in this area has very low yields owing to the animal breeds used, feed shortages and poor husbandry practices. The project aims to change this through community training and by providing artificial insemination (AI) services. 289 community members were trained in AI, cut-and-carry feeding systems and the appropriate times to harvest fodder, and a dairy cooperative has been created in Shenbekuma, one of the rural kebeles. The project supported the cooperative in the construction of this milk processing building.
