More time for the livelihoods programme

Our Seret project, whose goal was to restore 56 ha of land and improve incomes for about 300 households, was intended to be a five-year initiative starting in 2017. However, its activities since 2020 have been severely affected by the conflict in Tigray, so the livelihood improvement programme is expected to last at least another year. As 2022 draws to a close, we can estimate that our 56 ha of direct restoration activities will impact a wider landscape of around 733 ha. 1250 micro basins were renewed around the planted seedlings in 2022, and 11 kg of Vachellia abyssinica and Vachellia etbaica seeds were sown across 20 ha of the exclosure to improve vegetation cover.
