Project
ENHANCING COMMUNITY LED RESTORATION AND LIVELIHOODS IMPROVEMENT IN AND AROUND DONDURI FOREST

The project seeks to address the drivers and root causes of deforestation and degradation through capacity building & empowerment trainings on sustainable land management, promotion of sustainable and alternative livelihoods options and participatory forest management practices.
The project envisages the following outcomes, improved health; enhanced livelihoods and the ability for the communities’ children to receive an education, and more active participation of the community – particularly amongst women – in the decision making and the management of land and forests. This will lead to an increase in their ability to live the productive, meaningful and prosperous lives they need, in harmony with trees and forests, and to stop encroaching onto the natural forests nearby. Lastly the identified conservation Hotspots around Dundori forest will be fully restored and changed into Bright -spots thus securing its water-tower and carbon sink status.
