Summary of engagement
Maderacre operates more than 15 forest concessions over 300,000 hectares of Amazon rainforests under FSC forest management certification. These concessions are located in the province of Tahuamanu, within the region Madre de Dios, one of the most biodiverse rich areas on the planet. The forests faces threats such as shifting cultivation and timber theft. Maderacre seeks to set an example for other companies in Peru and the Madre de Dios region by demonstrating that sustainable forest management can generate income in addition to timber. The goal of the engagment with WWF is to increase the sustainability of forest magement.
