seedalive develops rapid seed viability test, giving results in hrs instead of weeks. The technology is mobile, non-destructive and easily automatable. Forest-tree species quality control with standard procedure according to ISTA rules take weeks or even months. We were contacted by governmental seed stations already to transfer the technology from agricultural species to forest-tree species. The lack of young plants pushes towards new solution like direct seeding in the forest, but the long duration of traditional testing is a problem for rapid reaction to forest decay.
