Active Restoration
Summary
Rivers from the mountains of the Sierras Grandes de Córdoba in central Argentina provide water to more than 2 million people and form a biogeographic island home to over 40 endemic species. The Acción Serrana project is focused on conserving and restoring native high-altitude Polylepis forests to mitigate the long-term effects of climate change. Restoration of these forests will contribute to the region's water security, protect against soil degradation, and preserve habitats of native species.
