To promote a community-based protected areas management system and gaining community support for the conservation of biodiversity, including former hunters. This is done by promoting alternative livelihood provisions which reduce the sole dependency on park and forest products in the Rwenzori Mountain National Park and Semuliki Forest Reserve. Besides working on environment and watershed management, along with the protection of endangered species, the project will engage in producing improved planting materials with the purpose of sufficient supplies to the community at lower prices. Additionally, it involves improving the
nutrition balance, peaceful relations and self-employment of the community through skilling youth and women in hands-on skills for a sustainable income at household levels, for instance bee keeping and honey processing.
