ARLEQUÍN REDD+

In the Chocó Biogeographic Zone, the Community Councils ACISANP, COCOILLO and COCOMACER through the ARLEQUIN REDD+ Project seek to minimize the impact that their communities generate by deforestation or forest degradation by implementing initiatives around the reforestation of degraded ecosystems, strengthening the agricultural - productive sector with local products such as achiote, cassava, Chinese potato, cocoa, medicinal plants, primitive, banana, sacha inchi and the technification of the rice transformation process; The promotion of environmental education and tourism, the implementation of appropriate cooking technologies, and the improvement of infrastructure and equipment for mobility, health, housing, and recreation. This project was named in honor of the Harlequin frog, a species that is in danger of extinction due to forest clearing.
