BANAKALE - ISIMALI REDD+

The project is made up of the Llanura del Tomo and Santa Teresita del Tuparro Indigenous Reservations, who work together to protect the forest by reducing and controlling deforestation and forest degradation. The Llanura del Tomo indigenous reservation has a total of 720 indigenous people, grouped into 11 communities; the Santa Teresita del Tuparro indigenous reservation has a total of 2,400 indigenous people grouped into 74 communities.
The word "Banakale" in the indigenous tradition of the Sikuani people, means the variety of seeds found in the conucos and orchards and the word "Isimali" means work, strength, dedication, responsibility and leadership.
