Project
Ejido La Catedral y Sus Anexos

The "Carbono Forestal La Catedral" project is located in Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua, Mexico, spanning 36,570 ha with a 28,631 ha activity area under Improved Forest Management (IFM) practices. Led by Bioforestal Innovación Sustentable S.C., it aims to capture carbon, sustain biodiversity, and enhance local livelihoods. Critical to the ecosystem, this IFM project preserves native flora and fauna, such as Pinus and Quercus species, supporting soil, water conservation, and reduced fire risks. Social benefits include economic upliftment via carbon credit sales and temporary job creation.
The baseline contrasts with project interventions that increase forest carbon stocks through reforestation, invasive species control, and fire prevention, projecting long-term storage for 100 years. Climate and environmental impacts include substantial CO₂ sequestration, biodiversity preservation, and protection of ecosystem services. Social impacts involve education, engagement, and financial benefits for the ejido. Using a rigorous MRV approach, including field sampling, satellite data, and regulatory compliance per the Climate Action Reserve’s protocol, the project ensures permanence and transparency.
