This project seeks to consolidate the El Salado Reserve on the Pacific coast of Guatemala by building a guardhouse and hiring a full-time guard to prevent illegal logging and hunting, to create educational trails and to maintain the Reserve (Cutting of firebreaks, reforestations, maintenance of infrastructure...). In the future, ARCAS also hopes to develop the area as a wildlife rehabilitation and release area and conduct research on the mangrove and dry tropical forest areas.
