In the heart of the Mahoosucs next to Grafton Notch State Park, Grafton Forest Wilderness Preserve is a forever-wild refuge along Maine’s Appalachian Trail. The Preserve is a keystone area linking core wild habitat. The 6,045-acre Grafton Forest Wilderness Preserve protects core wildlife habitat in connected, interior forests. It is a keystone, geographically linking a vast public Ecological Preserve and a 15,000-acre, well-managed woodland conserved by The Forest Society of Maine.
