The Grosse Moos, located in the Seeland region between Lakes Biel, Murten, and Neuchâtel, has undergone significant transformations in recent years, and is now recognized as Switzerland's vegetable garden. Contributing with over 20% of the country's vegetable production, it plays a crucial role in Swiss agricultural development. Our aim in this new project phase is to collaborate with local stakeholders, formulating a vision and strategy for the Grosse Moos. This involves considering the interplay between biodiversity, agriculture, climate, and a long-term agricultural management. Additionally, it should also address economic and social aspects, such as providing satisfactory income for farmers, preserving soil carbon content, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing biodiversity and ecosystem functions. A key milestone in our project implementation will be the development of a practical guideline to supporting the participatory identification, selection, implementation, and evaluation of suitable measures across different locations.
