Challenge: Sustainable Agriculture in the Three Lakes Region

The existing food production systems generate significant and negative environmental impacts. While several individual initiatives and concepts aim to address this issue, a comprehensive, cross-actor, and cross-value chain vision for sustainable, resilient food systems in Switzerland is still lacking. Moreover, crucial knowledge about the soil, essential for sustainable production, is currently missing. Environmentally and socially compatible food systems require both sustainable food production (agriculture) and sustainable consumption. The value chain from food production to consumption includes processing and trade. Here, too, there is a need for a systemic approach with concrete incubators in the Canton of Bern. This is why in this solutionscape, we are working to bring missing pieces to the puzzle and help creating more effective and substantiable solutions.
